Who is our competition?

First group we are competing with are licensed plumbers and electricians. When I started The Hive Works, I was working for a medium sized general contractor. I have seen how they operate; more expenses, more people to keep busy and a lot of bigger jobs. But they do hire quality licensed professionals to complete their projects. If you as a homeowner need some simple plumbing or electrical done, calling a bigger company will cost you hundreds more. Hiring a licensed plumber or electrician is required by law for a number of projects. However as a handyman, we can help you with a number of tasks, at a fraction of the cost.

Other handymen/women are the second group of our competition. An elite breed of trades people, flexible with their skills, great at problem solving and willing to learn. Most handymen/women are able to handle small plumbing and electrical issues so it is a level playing field in my opinion.

Last group of our competition is “the friend” aka “I know a guy”. You might be lucky and actually know someone who can help and has experience and the tools for your project. But chances are you don’t and you should probably not hire someone isn’t serious enough to make it a business or has insurance to cover your property or theirs.
